Using Your Cash Passport
Before you go - this bit’s important!
Sign the back of your card as soon as you get it, then memorise your PIN. You can change your PIN at any time online or over the phone.
Then just like a bankcard, you can use your Cash Passport at any ATM displaying the Visa logo. Simply enter your PIN and how much you want to take out. Customer feedback suggests that some countries may impose their own daily or weekly ATM withdrawal limits, which override higher limits on bankcards, including your Cash Passport. Please refer to the Budget Calculator for country specific details.
You can also use your Cash Passport at any retailer showing the Visa Electron logo. Simply enter your PIN or sign the receipt as usual.
When travelling, you may be asked whether you want to pay for your purchase in the local currency or British Pounds.
Avoid paying two exchange rate conversions: For example, if you choose to pay in British Pounds with a Euro Cash Passport in Spain, you will be subject to our exchange rate for a transaction in a different currency to that loaded on your card PLUS an additional exchange rate imposed by the merchant or ATM operator in converting your payment back into British Pounds. In order to avoid this additional exchange rate, we advise that where the local currency is the same as the currency of your card, you always pay in the local currency.
Avoid unpredictable rates: If your card is loaded in a different currency to the local currency, for example, a British Pounds Cash Passport that you’re using in Spain, and you are given the option of paying in British Pounds instead of Euros, please note that Travelex has no control over the exchange rate that the merchant or ATM operator will apply and accordingly you may be charged more if you choose to pay in British Pounds.
